The Place on the Lake is a nice for any event. Last fall I covered a wedding there. This time when I was asked to cover a Sweet Sixteen photography at the same place, I new it was going be an awesome evening. Parties like these are so much fun, not only because it is a very special day in a girl’s life, but also because with a lot of young guests there is a opportunity of getting good candid and dance shots. I went there ahead of time, although the venue was familiar to me. I also had my videographer come there early enough so both of us get time to check out how the evening would turn out.
After the family portraits, I got some nice nice shots of the guests mingling in the beautiful outdoor cocktail area over drinks and tasty kababs. The later afternoon sun created nice light and set the mood for a great evening after. I used fill flash helps to add a nice touch to complement the falling afternoon light. Inside I had set up a umbrella diffuser to ensure I got nicely exposed photos of the candle lighting. The background was all glass, so I had to be careful about the flash not showing up as a reflection.
The candle lighting and the speeches followed. Many of the speeches were very nicely written. The birthday girl and a couple of others played nice piano. After the cake cutting the it was dinner time. After dinner there was the father daughter dance and then folks joined at the dance floor. iNaach Entertainment was pretty good DJ, and everyone had a great time partying.
And we had a great time doing the photo and video for the event.
