Engagement Party Photography New Jersey
Raoul and Katie’s engagement party was planned as a surprise to them by their friends. They came to meet a couple of friends for lunch at Sahara, New Brunswick and were greeted by a room full of 50 friends.
SURPRISE!!!
They had no idea! It was insane, really! I had to focus grabbing the looks that resembled something between that deer-in-the-headlight and when you feel the world is falling away around you (in a good way – if that makes sense!). Looks that were replaced by that of joy and happiness for being around so many near and dear fellows who braved icy roads and wintry rains to wish the couple a great journey forward. So many emotions in so few seconds, so many hugs and kisses! My camera and I had to keep up with all that in a crowded floor, and capture the emotion of the moment but without being taken in by it.
The loft upstairs were reserved for the party. Friends put out some nice decorations to mark the special day in the couple’s life. The coolest was the long line of pictures suspended from a string – like drying laundry. And there was cutout “RK” that somehow had me reminisce about old Bollywood. Folks were signing off wishes on cute star shaped tags with ribbons on them. The couple was seated near a large window – which was great since it allowed me to use the light coming through to capture several nice portraits.
Candid people photography is my forte – and what better place to make that happen than at a party like this! The food was great and the ambience was excellent and nobody cared for the lousy weather that was outside. Everyone was in a mood to enjoy which meant great shots for me – that will keep Raoul and Katie and everyone else smiling for days and years.
