Judge Rothschild Retirement Party
Judge Rothschild Retirement Party at the Mountain Ridge Country Club was a great way to celebrate the fantastic career of the highly esteemed judge. It was a honor for me to be photographing the event which was attended by as many as 320 people including his family, colleagues, friends and others who were influenced by the judge.
An alumnus of UPenn and Yale, he practiced law at Riker, Danzig, Scherer, Hyland and Perretti first as an associate and then as a partner. He was appointed as a judge to the New Jersey Superior Court in 2002 where he served on numerous high profile and complex cases until his retirement.
Before the guests started arriving, there was a time for taking family photos, with their 2 daughters and 1 son and their families.
Cocktail hour and dinner followed, In the later afternoon the light was rather nice. There were big glass doors leading to the patio and the low angled light coming into indoors created the possibilities of interesting shots.
The judge and his wife Betty, who hired me, got busy with greeting the guests – who were many. Everyone seemed to having a good time outdoors or indoors in the nice clubhouse.
After the dinner, it was time for speeches. Every speech was well delivered There were 5 speakers before it was turn for the Honorable Judge to speak. The party was over after the speeches.
It was a 3-4 hour party but quite different from the parties I am used to. There was no DJ or dancing obviously as it was not that kind of celebration. It was greatly enjoyable though. I was as on an assignment, but I could feel the spirit of the party and could see the good time everyone was having.
The Judge James Rothschild Retirement Party was a fitting celebration to a very well respected man in the legal profession and I was happy to be part of it.
