1st Birthday Party Photography NJ
Zara’s dad contacted me for her 1st birthday party photography. Her first birthday was celebrated at home by her parents in the company of their closest relatives. They needed a friendly photographer who understands that with 1 year olds not everything will always run according to plan. I was happy to accommodate a schedule change with Zara still in her nap at the appointed time.
The living room was set up for the celebration and it was nicely decorated with lots of balloons, streamers and other fun stuff. The strong afternoon sun was shining through the curtains at the back. With little kids, the lighting needs to be smooth and free of any drama. So I used off camera flash and an umbrella diffuser to manage the otherwise difficult lighting.
1 year olds do not know anything about working with the photographer but Zara did great. She did not cry and stayed put for most of the time, with help and encouragement from her parents.
At first we got some of her portraits. This was fun because a steam of bubbles were dropped around her. Then there was a beautiful floral cake and Zara was supposed to squash that! She had just woken up from her nap and was not very keen about messing with the cake. In the end, she managed to do a pretty good job, though!
Another portrait session with family members followed after she got cleaned up and dressed for the party. Then that it was cake cutting time. It was a beautiful cake by Polka Dot Cake. It was decorated with cute animals.
I love photographing people in relaxed, casual setting and I can get a few cool candid shots, and I love that. This was one such party. I got some nice pictures and happy clients!
